hi all new on the forums .
have been a holden fan all my life but only recently got my first v8 ss
the reason for this topic is Im not happy with my diff ! i have noticed in the wet it seems to spin one wheel like an open dif usually LSD equipped cars will go sideways but this one lights up one side !f
I checked my diff and Im sure it says lsd on the tag where you fill the oil from..
so I am a bit confised as to why it is performing like an open diff anyone shed any light on this or is this normal for commodores. coming from a twin turbo soarer with torsen diff this one seems lame
Yea apparently the Holden diffs are pretty weak mate... You will need to get it reconditioned to get it tightened up but still even then it won't be all that crash hot so to speak. Look into a kaaz LSD if you want something proper![]()
jeez wasnt expecting it to be this bad .. the car has 78000kms on it . I know all about Kaaz they make good diffs especially for the jap import market .
mate the standard Torion lsd diff toyota make is bloody excellant. oh well...
i think most people are going with the truetrac these days
cool thanks for the ideas , seems true trac is what im after as its same type of diff I had in my soarer as in the Toren diff. basiclly locking up when it senses torque. in effect an open wheel diff thats locks up under power . need a part number now as they are cheap on ebay usa
Take it to a shop man, get them to take a look at it, chances are a shim would see it spitting doubles again

R U sure its an LSD???? Some diffs have a "High Performance" Tag on the filler , these are not LSD's.
Its a VY SS with 78000 on the clock Im quite sure it would have an LSD in it.
Mate take it to a transmission or driveline reconditioner and ask them to replace bearing and tighten the clutch packs in it. My VY has done 130000kms and the Diff was spinning singos to the left in wet and dry, but in a straight line and to the right it was dropping doubles. I noticed a slight whine and got new bearings and LSD reshimmed for 300 hundred.
Its not to hard to do yourself if your mechanically minded.
ye I might take it up to craft diffs here in merrylands see what they think... thanks for all the info pplz.
