hey all,
going to do leads and plugs this weekend and was just wanting to know how tight i should do the plugs??
i have a torque wrench aswell
thanks in advance
I generally go hand tight (well spark plug socket and 3" extension bar hand-tight) and a few more degrees with the ratchet, maybe 10 degrees.

so i should screw them in by hand then just a little tweek at the end with the wrench??
That's what I do and what 99% of mechanics do.

cheers
i didnt want to end up snapping one
Snapping one isn't the problem, trust me spark plugs are hard as ####. Its stripping them in the block that will ruin your day.

As above. No need for a torque wrench.
I've heard of quite a few instances of people doing it. Some people think every bolt must hold the car together so needs to be done up as much as possible.
I even remember (ages ages ago) reading about some moron who did his spark plugs up with a impact gun. Well I should say spark plug, as that ####ed the engine up right there.

Man thats awsome haha, Yer mate just do it F.T with the rattle gun haha. Was building a little excavator engine at work and had a 3rd yr apprentice attempt to rattle a glow plug into a head haha, had to take the head off and run a tap through it to straighten the thread up a bit and hit him up for a carton haha.
First time i ever did plugs i did snap one (but that's because I wasn't told anything about it, well i soon found out myself xD).
I do it up hand tight with the socket in my hand, then give it not even 1/8 of a turn as said above.
Hand Tight then just a little bit more with a wrench. Just firm. No need to be tight. Have to remember to after 40k they become tighter with heat and cooling every day. Just like people that do sump plugs up to tight that it requires ramps them a big power bar. Its just not on.
Aslong as you dont hang off it you will be fine.
