Hey does anyone know if you can wire 6x9's to the stock head unit? If so how?
    Thanks,

do you plan on keeping the rear door speakers? if you are you will need an amp to power the 6x9's, or just disconnect the rear door speakers and run some wire from the 6x9's to the original speaker wires

I ran the wires from the rear door speakers to a hi/lo converter then through a 2 channel amp then to the 6x9s

Your setup caught on fire and you don't even know how to remove a few screws to access the back of the headunit. Nothing personal, but please don't give advice if you have no idea.

Have you got the amp yet mate? If not run the 6x9s off of the rear door speaker wire.
Once you have an amp for your speakers you will have to run "RCA" cables to an amplifier, and run the speaker cables to the amplifier, not the headunit.

Amping off of the stock headunit gets a little bit tricky, due to technical reasons (More information on this available here)
Amping off of an aftermarket headunit is insanely easy, as they are designed for it.

Let us know what you are trying to do before you keep going (are you just changing the speakers, are you trying to amplify them etc.)

    Good luck!

depends if ya wanna amp them or not mate....
but I'm guessing you are asking whether there is wires to go off in the parcel shelf? which there isn't.
So if you want 6x9's on the rear shelf you'll have to run new wires...and they simply take over the rear door
    speakers.
So you'll have to do some dismantling

    +1 to this.

Or even better, install a sub in the boot instead of 'fully-sick-by-nines'.

You can amp the 6x9's independently if you wish. Would make it easier if you had an after market stereo however.

You can loop off the rear speaker outputs to run the 6x9s. I spliced off the rear speaker wires running from the headunit up the front under the trim and ran that to the boot to the high level input on my amp to run my sub. My rears still work.

Be careful about mounting the 6x9s. It's illegal to cut the parcel tray

I'm under the impression that all VYs have them cut out already, with the pieces of sheet metal held on by a few tabs... ie. the only cutting needed is the parcel shelf cover, which is not the body of the car and therefore not illegal...

He's right nic... Doing it the way you suggest changes the resistance. Which means you have a chance of damaging the amplifier or speakers or even both if there not designed for it.

No they can't. Only the specialist amps are usually 2 ohm. Most consumer amps are 4.....

ohh i see alot of 4 channel amps with 4ohm and a 2ohm load

i am actually sure on this one, every 4 channel amp i have looked at so far have a 2ohm and a 4ohm load

i am currently looking for a new amp so thats why i have been looking

2ohm is more rms power but then it gets split into more than 1 speaker/woofer or what ever is connected if it is not a DVC4ohm

It's pretty stupid to give someone advice based on the assumption that you can throw anything in parallel and it will work. I just picked a random Pioneer Amplifier on the web and it only runs in 4 ohms, you lose.
