Default What size rims suit a VY

im looking into buying some new wheels, was just wondering what size do you guy think suit a VY best,

    I've heard 18's tyres are expensive, are 19's or 20's a better option ?

The bigger you go the more expensive the tire. 18's will do fine.

Also don't forget, the bigger the rim the smaller the tyre, so hitting potholes in 19's and especially 20's is a bitch.

There are expensive and cheap tyres in every size but generally 18's are cheaper than 19's and 20's.
A lot depends on the brand as to how expensive it will be.
Anything under $200 you usually get what you pay for.
Over $200 they start to get pretty similar in performance while being very different in price.

i have 20's on my VY ute. they cost me around $250+ for a half decent tyre, they ride good and look awsome, but when it does come to the pot holes etc, you really feel them, but then again, u develop an eye for potholes and should be able to avoid most. all in all i reckon 20's r worth it.

    Default what wheels

Personally id go 18" like the other guys have mentioned the bigger the rim the smaller the profile and then it gets expensive remember the old saying money talks bullshit walks and dont forget the legislation which i think is you can go 2 inches bigger than factory eg if it came out the factory with 15's you can go to 17's, i would forget 20's coz theyll scrub like hell and potholes etc may crack the rim.

Depends on how big your brakes are, nothing worse then huge rims and a huge gap cause the brakes look like they come off a motorbike

Standard brakes : 18's will do fine

After market big brakes : 19/20's will not look out of place

Wheel Demon It's Advanti's site, has a lot of user pictures on there which helps a lot.

As for purchasing the wheels, I suggest you head down to your local store, they'll give you a good deal and you won't be stuffed around by dodgy online stores that offer no after sale help.

I believe the rule is rolling diameter not actually rim size, and there is plenty of thing to do to make them not scrub at all.

This guy is correct. as far as im aware SA were the last state to have the 2 inch rule in place, they might have abolished it now. the new rule is you are allowed to increase the OVERALL rolling diameter by 15mm. so fitting 245/30/R20's (assuming you have 205/65/R15 fitted now) will give you a diameter increase or around 8mm, leaving it legal. I know because cops have questioned me about 20's on my SS, but they cant do shit because of that rule. and ive never been defected

Considering that the VYs came with the SS 18" rims as an option this argument is voided anyway, as that would make 20" legal.

In SA it is also the rolling diameter rule too, get the correct profile tyres and you're fine.

When the 2 inch rule was in place it went off the largest size on the tyre placard, and as VY SS's i believe came with 18s from the factory it would be safe anyway. so your right

I had a police officer say how nice my rims were lol. In saying that he didn't know the rule about rim sizes lol
