Bought the engine and removed the sump a where it was theirs a hole, I thought it was maybe the pistons or crankshaft, don't really know, wanted tip get some ideas before I take a look inside.
I'll try but pics up, its hard being on my mobile
So you bought the motor with a hole in the sump already there? If something has come amiss inside it'll become pretty obvious as soon as you remove the sump. Also look for any witness marks where something may have scraped/hit etc. Where exactly is the hole? The sump floor pan on these gen3's is pretty thin, approx 5mm. Has the hole definitely been punched from the inside out? I've seen a gen 3 that was lowered onto the ground and a large bolt was under the sump... Yep you guessed it, instant puncture hole.

Hey msn, thanks for the reply, yeah it definatly looks from the inside. looking from the front its on the back left side. I've been placing out on a tyre ever since yesterday when I put it on a stand. Ill put a picture up
it would be easier to rip it off and see rather than ask us questions as I don't have xray vision
- sorry just stating the obvious
That splash pan unbolts. Pull it off and all should be revealed. Post up a pic then when its off

Hey guys, unbolted the plate, found out I have a v7... One of the pistons were in half, just wondering now is out easy to just replace it our is their other things I need to look our for.thanks for your help.
That doesn't sound healthy... Problem is, if its munched a piston, what has it done to the bore of that cylinder??? How long was it run for in this condition? I think you can safely assume its given it some scoring marks at the least. Really needs to be stripped down to closely examine that cylinder bore and the damage. May also have bent the rod. Do you know the history of the motor and how this came about?

Ok, so she's done a little more than just detonate a piston...
What were your plans for this this motor? Parts or a conversion?
As a minimum it'll require a rebore and hone. Any visible damage to the crank?

looks like oversized pistons are on the cards
Did you know the piston was shagged when you bought the engine?
Nah but the seller said it had no compression, that must of been it,
