Default VY SS Right Spotlight not working - how to fix

Own a 2003 VY SS commodore and just noticed before that my drivers side spotlight does not work when clicked on.

Must have stopped working recently because i can remember using both lights on one of these foggy mornings we have had recently.

Does anyone know how i can fix it? does it take replacement globes or not? and how to i replace globe/whole spotlight if needed and how much do they cost and where to get from.

    Cheers.

You just need to replace the globe. It takes a H3 12V globe. You just have to undo the screw at the top of the light (from the front), and pull out the metal surround, then the fog light just falls out, and then pull the globe out from the back.

That bloody chrome ring was difficult to wedge out and harder to clip back in.

Got it all sorted within about half an hour though.

The clerk at autobarn said that spotties burn out quicker than regular lights and should only be used for fog. I like the way the car lights up at the front when i put them on so i had been using them all the time - is there any truth to what he said? I really want to use them at night but am afraid they will burn out quickly??

lol first time ive heard that..they should act like every other light..and yes they should only be used for when fog is around..as some states can fine you if you have them on for incorrect use

Yeah they are difficult to take off and put back in. And I think that they should last just as long as headlight globes do.

dijm8 is right, here in victoria you can get a fine for having them on if there is no fog or no rain. I got a warning from the police when I had them on in my Statesman once. He must have been in a good mood because I thought he was going to give me a fine haha.

Sounds like a load of shit. Afaik standard H3 (fog) globes have a fatter filament then your normal low beam headlight globes, so being the same rating (55W) they should last even longer...
