Here is my VY V6 Engine cover painted in Quicksilver to match the exterior of the car. Nothing special, but it brightens up the engine bay nicely.

No none at all. I did mine in Motospray acrylic and their 'top coat clear' and have had no trouble. I did a fair bit of research before I did it as I had the same concerns as you, but found that on the plastic engine cover normal paint will hold up (I wouldnt paint metal engine parts like this). Mine has been done since march with no problems.

However I did use a heap of products to do it. I used the motospray flexiprimer (i think) to prime the plastic first, then used the motospray primer surfacer after that, then the color, then the clear. cleaning up with prepwash regularly and sanding after the primer surfacer.

I got my color tinted by Distinctive Paints in Hoppers Crossing.

Hope that helps. Anymore Q's just PM me.

Doesn't work because they blocked other forum links. But you shouldnt need it anyway if your getting someone else to do it.
