hi, I have a vy ss ute and the "check engine oil" alert is coming up on the instrument cluster intermittently. The car has the correct amount of oil in the engine and is not leaking anywhere. There is no oil in the water and no water in the oil. Can someone please shed some light on this? Thanks heaps.
I've heard that oil pressure sensors are commonly faulty on LS1's. I'd say start there. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?
i won't correct you.
they are a common thing to go i had mine go but still had oil pressure but i would still fix it. a mate of mine had his go found out it was that and decided he would live with it and about 2 months later he got crap in his pickup and had no warning cause he left it long story short he,s driving a camira at the moment.
the engine warning light usually comes on if its the oil pressure sensor so you might wanna take it to a mech asap
Thanks guys for the info.........much appreciated.
How did you go? Mine has started doing this recently and was told by local Holden dealer it might be oil pump and they could charge me 2K to 'take a look'
2k to screw an oil pressure guage in place of the filter? Tell them theyre dreaming.

In all honesty I have given up on Holden servicing after they have taken 14 attempts to fix my O2 sensor dramas with still no luck (luckilly thats under warranty). Yea pretty much he said we can check out your oil pump but that involves taking the sump off and labor alone could get close to the 2K mark.
A simple oil pressure test is all thats needed THEN if its low you would start looking at the pump. 2k to look at the pump is a joke it would cost less to replace it including parts.
