need to change the front brake pads on my vy, got standard rotors. was just wondering if i need them machined or not, they only have a slight lip on them.
How many km on them? Its best to measure. Do you have a workshop manual for the car? Someone on here would. If you have vernier calipers, you can measure the rotor thickness and see if they need replacing or not.

yer got the manual but not the vernier calipers, i bought it about 12,000k's ago so unsure aobut how long before that they had been done
If the rotors are not undersize and scored then just change the pads. If they are scored you can probably get new ones for about the same cost as machining the ones on your car.
yer iv done that with the rears on a vr before
the only thing you have to ensure is the hub surface is clean of any rust, scale or dirt which will cause the new rotor to run out. Best way to ensure this is to get a battery drill with a wire wheel and clean up the hub surface until it is nice and shinny.
mmmmmmm what wortus said cause i didnt do that properly and then had to get new ones machined lesson learned
I just changed all of my pads. My rotors (factory) had a small lip as well. Seem to work great, I'd leave em and chuck new pads on.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
I ended up replaceing my front rotors today and so far I am rapped, no more shudder when braking at 100k's!
