hey guys i registered here to see if anyone could help me with my tyre scrubbing issue. ive got a 2003 VY s pack, and lowered it with khrl46sssl in the rear and khrl47ssl in the front. after driving around like that for a few days, went for a drive with 4 people in the car one night (one of which weighed 130kg) and subsequently scrubbed out my left rear tyre, not on the outside guard, but on the inside of the tub. the next day i went out and got myself a set of khrl46ssl for the rear, which did raise the ass by about 30mm or so, and have been driving around as such for about 3 months now. i regularly drive with a full tank and 4 or 5 people in the car and havent had a problem, until last night when i got in the car with 2 mates and about a 1/3 of a tank of petrol, and straight away as i drove off i could smell burning rubber. has anyone got any ideas or clues as to why this has just suddenly happened?
ps. sorry about the novel, had to get it all out.
What size are your wheels and tyres? Whats the offset of the wheels?

the wheels are 20's with 245/35ZR20 rubber on them. i wouldnt have a clue what the offset of it is man, i didnt actually lower it myself, got it done at the tyre factory here in geelong.
Those tyres are the wrong size, the aspect ratio is supposed to be 30 not 35, this is probably why your tyres scrub (or the main contributing factor) you need 245/30R20. Your speedo would now be wrong too.
The rolling diameter of a 245/30R20 (correct size) is ~654.8mm
The rolling diameter of a 245/35R20 (incorrect size) is 679.5mm (3.63% rolling diameter difference)
Huge difference, at an indicated 100km/h you'd actually be doing 96km/h (3.8% too slow)
Running the wrong size tyre creates a huge lot of problems.

ah shit sorry they actually are 245/30, must have buggered typing that. so they are definitely legal tyres? my old man keeps swearing black and blue that theyre not within legal diameter, but that's what i've been told is legal. even with the stock 16's it has rubbed a tiny little bit
What sort of wheels are they? Its possible the offset is wrong, but if you were scrubbing with stock wheels i'd run to pedders and get a $14 suspension check. Then get it fixed somewhere else, pedders are crap and a rip off, but their $14 is awesome value, great for diagnosing problems.

i say the offset of the wheels is incorrect too.
Band aid fix could be a set of hub spacers... but im sure id cop a flaming for suggesting that, ah well

Ive got spacers in my VS Commy...
VS V8 Manual ... Reppn it for NZ
No point in mentioning spacers until we see what the offset of the wheels are
