    Default Roof leak

Got a bit of a leak from a mates VY sedan. You can see a water mark on the roof lining above the passengers side rear. Dunno where the water is coming from. Anyone else had this issue before?

Had water through a sun visor before in a rental. Windscreen had been replaced by dodgy brothers and not sealed properly. Water ran in the gap, up into the lining and exited through the screw holding the visor to the lining.

Check window seals to see if anything is perished. The other option would be the tracks on the roof for the roof racks (if fitted) as they have a channel that seems to run the length of the car. Possibly full of gunk and not draining.

The one you wouldn't like to consider - is there a sun roof and how does it drain if there is water ingress?

Yeah ok. It's not coming from the front windscreen and it doesn't have a sunroof either. Its a weird place to have a leak

Similar in my VN years ago. Ended up being hidden rust in the roof and the water was leaking thru that.

had to get the whole roof replaced. Got my mechanic to find the hole and fix teh rust, but the more he took back and the further he looked, the more it became obvious that the whole roof was now stuffed, all because of a peky little bit of rust......hope it's not that bad for your mate

I seem to recall there are joins in the roof panels under the black plastic strips which run down the length of the roof from the front to rear on each side of the roof. It is possible that water in the roof channel is getting through the panel join in some spot and into the interior roof lining. If a bad windscreen seal is not the cause then I would have the plastic roof strip on the passenger side removed and the channel inspected. Get someone who knows what they are doing to do this removal so the car is not damaged.
