vy gearbox noise or i was told its normal BUT I DONT THINK SO

I have a vy ss its a 4 speed auto, everynow and than there is a knock noise in the diff when slowling down i was told it was just a bit of play in the diff no biggie, but when i had it up on the hoist i notice this squeaky, grinding sorta noise in the gearbox when i turn the shaft with my hands but it really only happens when going forward and not in reverse, there is enough gearbox oil does anyone know what this could be??

do i need to rebuild the diff??

is there any play between the tail inlet and the drive shafts??.. there should be no play in the diff

Change the diff oil. I had the same issue as yourself and I had the oil changed on Monday and the knock is gone

if its lsd put in the additive mine used to do it discovered it was the diff lsd locking up slightly changed oil added additive all good now
