K-Frame will need dropping. So engine either has to come out, or be supported from above somehow.

Why does it need to be done, is it your local Holden dealer saying it needs to be done? I got told mine needed to be done by Holden 5 years ago, still hasn't dropped any oil onto my driveway. They all seep a bit, and will be ok for a long time, if it's leaving puddles then it's time to look at it. Just check the bolts are done up evenly.

FYI rear main seal $55.19, sump gasket set $80.16 Durapro (OE equiv.) or $111.35 Fel-Pro

I just did a VT Ecotec. Took the motor and trans out together to do the job. Same thing, rear main and sump.
Was I to do it again, I'd still do it this way. We wanted to have a good look at the rear main anyway, as it had been fitted with a speedy sleeve in the past.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
