Iv got a vy v6 ute,
Current mods are
Dual cat back exhaust
Pacemaker headders
K&n pod filter
A little head work- matched &ported, springs, rods, retainers etc
Cam and tune
Dynod at 205rwhp
I have manifold and plenum spaceRs on the way with 69mm throttle body
How much difference will this make?
Iv also got 3:9 diff gears coming too..
Wat other mods could i consider b4 puttin a blower on..
Would i see gains out of msd coils and leads? Or even better than stock plugs?
Wld a cai make a difference?
All suggestions wld be appreciated
Search and you will get all the answers you want. OT: MSD coils waste of time. Changing spark plugs to anything but factory also a waste of time.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Im from perth n no1 wants to know bout a v6 over here, im running out of obvious ideas as the cam has too much lift
For roller rockers
check out mace in the sponser section as im sure they do a cam to suit roller rockers
Iv got a cam, its just the lift of it is too high for roller rockers, so i wnt see any gains.. Will a cai give me any gains?
not sure on gains but it will definatly breathe better - do this along with your spacers and throttle
Wat ratio will suit? I dnt know anything bout rockers.. Im hoping to see 230rwhp naturall aspirated
I was talkin CAI
Leave your rockers alone unless you know exactly whats goin on with that cam ie do you know lift specs/ at what stage would the extra lift become a PTV issue
this is my cam..
Duration @0.050 222/224
Lobe lifts: 337"/327"
Valve lift with 1.60:1 rocker arm 539"/523
112 lsa
108 intake centreline
How much more power would that give me? I wanna get asmuch as i can out of it then maybe supercharge? Wat does stroking involve?
pretty much stroking it will require a whole engine rebuild if done properly. and you can get them for boost applications
will contain pistons, new crankshaft, and so forth.
will produce alot more torque, and a little bit more power. while taking the engine out to approx 4.2L (from 3.8L)
approximate amounts of power are 230Kw's but i believer that is at the fly and not the wheels, but i may be wrong.
however if you are going to charge it, i would say get this done at the same time, so the rebuild and everything is in one hit.
but mind you, a stroker kit is like 2500-4000 and then a few extra $'s to get it all rebuild and machined etc
it may also require a new camshaft to match so that everything is intime and working properly. so it can be a very expensive exercise.
the stroker kit works by causing a bigger displacement by making the travel of the piston longer.
and if you really wanted to go over the top, you could have the cyylinders bored out for bigger piston heads.
although i have no idea how that would go in an ecotec.
oh and youll probably get alot of answers such as, dont waste your money on a v6, buy a v8 instead.
just get ready for them =P
So its like a recond kinda thing but better ofcourse? Yeah i know bout the comments lol even the missus bugs me bout me.. Shes just jealous cos i beat her au xr8be a good experiment
I don't think your cam is suited for a charger
Yeah im not sure bout that either, been told it could work.. But hav to see how i go
@ OP What did the headjob cost ya approx? If you don't mind me asking?
Usually around $50-100 you just have to look in your local paper under 'outcalls'
if your going to Charge it and also Stroke it. i would say get it done in one hit though. dont want to go through 3 cams, 3 tunes, 3 this 3 that etc.
just an idea.
and MUNZ has a dirty mind =P
I wanna see how it goes naturally aspirated first.. Heads are pretty much stock and dnt have an air intake yet, so iv
Got a fair bit to gain yet..
Wat chargers are better? Those top mounts or centrefugal things lol
do you notice a lot difference using the K&n pod filter? im looking at getting one just wondering if its worth it. cheers
