Hey guys.
Recently I bought a 2004 series II VY SS ute, the previous owner said that it had a mafless tune. Only thing is he's removed the OTR CAI (i know its been on there because the shroud over the radiator has been cut to suit from the installation and the air box system has been bodged back together for sale (i assume), as well as this the maf sensor is plugged into the airbox system. The car seems to run fine, but does get an engine code every so often, could this be related to having a mafless tune and the maf sensor being plugged in? (not really relevant). My question is, short of taking it to a tuner is there a way to know for sure if it has been mafless tuned before I go out and buy a OTR CAI suited for a mafless and end up costing myself an arm and leg I don't have free for give away atm?
Cheers.

Yes. Contact the previous owner and ask him where the tune was done and when.
Take the car around to the tuner and ask him what was done to your car. If the tuner is worth a pinch of salt he would have records of what was done (as the previous owner should have had also).
Cheers.
He will also take 3 minutes of his day to plug his laptop in and check it out. Was the OTR on the car when you went to see the car before buying?
Hes gone dark and the car was from south aus, im asking if theres a way that I can test it to see if it is indeed mafless tuned, no the otr wasnt fitted at the time as he was canaried a few weeks before and had fixed everything that was defected (apparently).

Unplug the maf and see how it runs that will tell you if its mafless or not
disconnected the plug that plugs into the maf sensor and started the car, ran same as before. good news! seems the bloke didn't lie about that at least.
