reading codes on vy

Does anyone know how to read codes without tech 2 diagnostic machine?


I have a vy v6 ute ive just rebult the motor put it back together put it back in car and now it starts but stops when cold wen it warms up it will idle but is very rough ive checked all wiring, checked injectors, checked egr valve and pcv pipe all ok ive replaced plugs and leads but still have problem was just wondering if anyone knew how to read comp without diagnostic machine. I dont believe its fuel pump as it smells like its over fuelling. Any hepl would be greatly apprieciated cheers Nathan

Ye paper clip pins 5 n 7 I think search it, n engine light will flash n that will give u a fault

Im Quite sure you need a Tech 2 tool for a VY, Holden took this out with the first VYs, only the series 2 VXs and back you are able to do this. Going from memory when i wanted to do this with my VY.

As for your problem, Im thinking a DFI Module or Coil pack.

thanks im gonna take it to holden to check for codes ive had no check engine light come on but there might be a code there but ill also check out the dfi module and coil pack cheers

it turned out intake mainfold had a crack in it got it idling good and going great but still got surging problem a little so looking into it

hey if you havnt taken it to holden, i have a scan tool and dont charge the earth like a dealer
