Default Vx series 2 motor and box into vy series 2?

    Hi,
just wondering if theres any difference between a vx series 2 motor and box and a vy series 2 motor and box?
can it be installed into a vy with no messing around having to change bits and pieces/adding or removing sensors etc?
also can i use the vy computer with it?

    basically can i ,
take old motor and box out of vy
take engine loom off vy motor
    put loom on vx motor
install vx motor and box into vy
wet pants due to excitement that it was all straight forward and no messing around?

Just use the VY harness and PCM as you've said. The rest is the same with no stuffing round.

OP is in NSW and you CAN do it here, so long as all emissions control devices etc relevant to that model body are fitted. I've done a few v6 motor swaps like this.

like i said, its the same motor as the vz went alloytec?????hence why when you look at parts it goes vt vx vy,,not vz engine bits,,,,, the only change might be a senscer, but it will be okay too use

I think you've misunderstood what 'VY Rossi' meant... Yes there is bugger all changes between vs-vy ecotecs, however, some states will not allow a motor from an earlier model into a newer body, regardless of whether they're the same or not, based off the eng no. and the body model it was originally fitted to i.e. cannot fit a vt v6 into a vy v6 etc etc.
The reference here is to legalities, not whether it is physically possible or not.
