hey guys a mate of mine just sold his VY Calais, its the V8 model,he traded it to a dealership for 13,500. think thats a rip off? the dealer said that the VIN number had been changed or something or it had been in an accident but had been repaired. otherwise he would have offered 15,000. opinions?
the car had an exhaust system and 20in chromies
for an LS1 Calais i think its a very fair price... bordering on generous
you only need to cruise carsales and see what the asking is
There are heaps on car sales for around 13 grand (S1 V8's) so given that its a trade in I reckon he's done quite well out of it.
Yeah, I don't see that being a rip-off at all, even more so if the thing has been in an accident.
And having an exhaust and stereo would have played against your mate. If it was a clean stocker he could expect more.
How many km was on it?
Did extremely well for trade in.
Take it easy...But do take it...
Do not argue with an IDIOT.
He will just drag you down to his level an beat you with experience.
Some people take me the wrong way, Like smacking up Marijunna.
Agreed, that's a good price. But it would have been added to the other end of the car he bought. Maybe he paid too much for THAT.

Nuff said really.

im surprised you got that much, since it had been repaired and re sprayed. usually they avoid things like that.
I agree with all the above. He got a good price, if he wasn't happy then he should have sold it privately. Plus the fact that it has been modified (distastefully to some people) means that unless the dealership returns it to stock spec, then they are limited to a much smaller audience.
But yeah he may not have got the best price on the new car, that's the real question.
OP: Need to know how many Ks before a fair price can be determined???
And don't forget its a trade in not a private sale 2grand + of a difference.

cant remember how many Ks it had,at least 150k i reckon,he traded and bought a 300c chrysler, which had a sticker price of $40,000 lol
Dealers need to make money via trading cars, that is any car that goes thru their books they try to make money on. Sounds like a fair price to me. I'd probably pay less for a car with 20's - certainly doesn't make it worth any more. Also depends on the overall condition of the car.
Lol - so one bad taste car gets replaced by another
Reaper
Kinda relevant - Sales of chrysler 300's in the last couple of years:
Total U.S. sales
Calendar Year Sales
2006[14] 143,647
2007[14] 120,636
2008[15] 62,352
2009[16] 38,606
2010[17] 37,116
Looks like they are on the way out or superseded? The hemi isn't bad but the interior is appalling and your mate is in for a shock if he thinks commodores are the biggest boats available! That is based on a few Chrysler's I have used in the past but that was about 4 years ago. Hope they have come along leaps and bounds since then (fingers crossed that they burnt the old steering wheel design)!
I would be stoked with that trade in price!
