Hey guys.
My VY has had an aftermarket body kit put on it. And I was looking at it the other day, and was thinking it would probably look better without the wing. There's four phillips screws holding it on, I thought that wasen't really enough and took them out. Still was on there quite well so I'm guessing they've used some kind of glue as well? Will the fishing wire trick work with this?
Just want your guys much valued opinions on if you think it'll look better.
Excuse the average photo =D
Thanks.
Edit : I know the Holden badge is a disgrace. That's on my list =P
I think the spolier sort of suits that kit. I'm not sure how they are attached, if you're sure you got all the screws then I guess it could be glued down. I'd be more annoied by the little holes that you'd have to fill tbh. But if you can get it off, see what it looks like then decide.
you might need to respray it if you remove the wing, generally the screw holes are fairly obvious
If you don't like it without the spoiler or are worried about the screw holes maybe replace it with a SS spoiler similar shape so will suit bodykit but it's not so much of a coat hanger (not so high).
And I would imagine the fish wire trick should work if it's been glued.

Thanks for the advice guys. Nobodies really given there opinion if they think it'll look good gone though =P Wonder what kind of glue it is.
I like the wing it looks meaner with it on
Yeah the wings quite big. But it's a big car too =P Might have a look around see what around.
Yes it would look fine with no rear wing.
However the problem is the holes that will be left and the possible damaged paint work in the contact area. You will need a boot lid repair and a complete 2 pack respray to get the boot lid back to original quality condition. The car looks fine with the spoiler (or without) so I would not worry about it.
The issue with the appearance of the car is not the rear spoiler. It's those wheels. If you want to improve the appearance of the car I would spend money on changing the wheels and tyres and leave the spoiler alone.
As above, with a chunky car like that it needs bigger wheels to suit. Change them, clean up your drums and calipers, spray drums with black caliper paint and spray calipers with red or yellow caliper paint. Will look way better. With such a chunky rear end, it needs the bigger spoiler.
Keep the wing. Otherwise get a new boot lid (probably cheaper than filling and respraying the current one).
Look at the wheel colour and the calipers would be my suggestion.
Remember, the holes will be in your boot afterwards..
The wing looks good I would leave it there. They are right, there is a problem with the wheels. They need to fill the guards more, the kit makes the wheel arches look wider and the wheels are disappearing under the car.
I dont mind the wheels themselves.. maybe just a different offset and/or slightly wider, to fill the wheel arches properly.
It will be stuck on with sicaflex

needs the wing. it completes it, otherwise just looks like a half-assed attempt of chucking on a kit.
Its more likely that the rubber insulators between the wing and the bootlid have softened and are acting like glue. If you pull hard enough on it, it will come off, but that will probably still leave some of the insulator behind as a gluey mess on the boot, and of course 4 holes in the boot.
If you wanted to remove it, and you cant do the body and spray work yourself, then better to get a new boot and have it sprayed than messing about with that one. Just ebay the old boot complete with spoiler, untouched... someone will buy it.
I still say keep the wing, it suits the kit.
