Hi guys I have a VY series 2 calais, 172,000kms on the clock.
Bought it 4 months ago, having problems with it starting, it just cranks over and dies straight away.
Cleaned out the air filter and throttle body (throttle body was filthy) still no good!!
Changed the slip ring today, went to start it tonight did it again
Had it hooked up to a diagnostics test, fault codes were:
18 AUX SERIAL FAULT
21 BATT LOW VOLT (battery is only a month old??)
2 SLIP RING FAIL
24 KEY ROLLING CODE ERROR
25 ENG START WITHOUT SLIP RING COMMS
So naturally I changed the slip ring, but failed 2nd time I tried to start it after.
Keys look brand new, and the screws are tight on them (have tried both keys, happens with both)
Sometimes it starts no worries, sometimes it takes a few times to crank over and start.
Also noted if I put V-power petrol in the problem goes away, as soon as I go back to unleaded it comes back. (not sure if its coincidence or not) but tried v-power for a few weeks and problem stopped, change back to normal and it straight away starts (thats why I cleaned out the throttle body)
have put petrol/injector cleaner into tank but no good
Any ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks
Aaron
By unleaded do you mean that E10 crap??
I've always run my car on V-power cause its generally better for feul consumption
