I am going to change my shocks and I just wondered if anyone has used Gabriel shocks
I have a by sedan with fe2 I tow a trailer nothing huge
Any help would be appreciated
If you're only replacing the rear shocks they're probably ok ,they're certainly cheap and are going to be heaps better than worn out shocks, but if you're replacing front struts as well I,d probably look at Munroe GT Sports or even GT Gas.I only have standard height suspension and I've had Gabriel shocks at the rear and GT gas up front for over 40,000km and I'm happy enough.I frequently tow a 4.6m tinny. To quote my mechanic when he saw that I'd installed Gabriels,"They've been around for a long time and are reliable enough but may be at the lower end of the scale as far as development goes."
Gas struts are far better than oil ones. Havnt looked close enough at my vy with fe2, but my vs had oil munroes from factory.
What about kyb's?
Surely the shocks aren't priced that differently? The cost of labour or your time would outweigh the difference? Particuarly if they flog out 40k later
I've put KYBs in the rear of my standard wagon - definately firmed up the back. Quite hard around town, feel alot of bumps.Really good on open road.
wats some good shocks to go in a vy one tonner, dont carry to much weight and rarely tow trailers.
Hi mate,
KYB to suit are are $145 each for the front, and $99 each for the rear. Alternatively, we do also have a VERY good rear upgrade option available (which will help some of the bounciness if your ute spends most of it's time unloaded...), which is a brand called Oztec, and they're $119 per shock.
Shipping to Goldy $8.
Any other questions just let me know!
Regards,
Greg

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

Gabriel are just a very basic cheap trade servicing shocks, nothing overly special, but still well made.
We generally recommend KYB, which are $145 each for the front, and $69 each for the rear, or $675 for a full kit when matched with springs:
