So i recently bought a vy 2002 executive has a clubsport bodykit and i want and exhaust system with a nice note and does a system give u more power or what idkhelp would be muchly appreciated..
An exhaust will give you a bit more power but it really depends on what you buy as to what note you get
What kind of budget were you working to?
ah k thanks and i dunno how much what is worth soo yeah not much help but i thought people would be much more mechanicly minded on here soo yeah
no lol sorry i meant im not much help cause i dont know much i got on here cause there would be more mechanically minded people sorry u misunderstood
the mechanically minded will just tell you, you will get a nicer note with 2 more cylinders![]()
How long is a piece of string? It's kinda hard for people to help you if you don't give as much information as possible. What's your budget, what exhaust fitters do you have access to, can you weld the system in yourself, do you want top of the line or something cheap that will do the job, do you want a cat back system, do you want a full system with extractors, what about cats, 100cpsi? 200cpsi? stock replacement? are you familiar with any brands and if so which would you pick, are you going to add resonators/cannon, what other mods have you done that may compliment the exhaust system? Also, are you on your provisionals?

ok lets say what i would get 4 a grand ? or round about
Just get a catback system, aftermarket headers and cats aren't allowed on your P's in Victoria anyway.
I would suggest a mild steel system, either a 2.5" single pipe or a 2.25" twin pipe. You can go with or without a rear resonator, without will be louder but will also drone a bit, depending on the system. As a rough guess without doing any research, the single pipe system will probably be $250-400, and the twin around $500-600.
I have pretty much the same car as you and I have a mandrel bent mild steel single pipe system with no rear resonator. There is a video on the first page of my ride thread (link in my sig) if you want to have a listen. The middle muffler is a Redback one.
REDBACK 2.5" CAT BACK EXHAUST VT VX VY V6 COMMODORE TWIN DUAL OUT REAR MUFFLER | eBay That's what I'd be telling you to go for. For someone not mechanically minded these are relatively easy to bolt up yourself or just get an exhaust joint to do it for ya. That being said if you want to burn $4000, I'd recommend a good set of wheels and a proper lowering job as well.

Not_an_abba_fan. PM Him, won't find a cheaper/better quality exhaust.

Depends if you want to go extractors etc aswell. I wouldn't recommend them if you're going for only sound (even though I did for more power too.. But in the end worked in conjunction with the rest of my mods).
Whatever you do, DON'T get a redback cat back.. Every bloody v6 has it and they ALL sound the same.
I got a custom made one for mine, then pacemaker extractors.
Go to your nearest exhaust shop and ask them for stuff aswell, and PM Not_an_abba_fan
Not even the catback is legal, neither is changing your air filter to an after market panel filter, etc.. Anything to do with engine = out of question.
That being said, ever since i put the cam in the car is alot louder ontop of what it already was and I haven't had any trouble.. Every v6 almost has an exhaust though, but there will be that one picky guy.
was just looking on ebay and this system looks alright
XFORCE TWIN 2.5" CAT BACK EXHAUST MONARO VT VX VY 60MM | eBay
its a xforce cat back 2 1/2 inch system with twin stainless steel tips
XFORCE are one of our site sponsers, if you talk to them there probably get cheaper.
Do we really need him coming back in a months time complaining that his exhaust doesnt fit and it has a horrible note?XFORCE are one of our site sponsers, if you talk to them there probably get cheaper.
My Lukey 2.5" catback sounds decent. IMO doesnt sound tinny, or does it drone. Has a nice note but isnt loud.
Does the trick for a P plater. Cost me $300 odd fitted.. could be alot cheaper.. if you do it urself... find a secondhand part.. etc.
If your not a P plater.. for a grand you could almost get a full genie system. Extractors, hi-flow cats. 2.5" catback. that's for a ute.. just throwing that in..
