Hi all,
Just a question about stretch bolts for the vy struts. I have seen on another forum saying you need to replace the stretch bolts, is this right? Why cant you use the same ones?
They are called stretch bolts because as they torque up they stretch to reach the torque setting.
This stretch acts a little like a spring keeping the bolt in tension while it is under torque.
Problem is that each time you torque up the bolt it will stratch a little more so there is the prospect of the bolt maybe snapping.
Saying all that, when you get a full front wheel alignment (a proper one not a toe and go) they will sometime have to back off those bolts to adjust the camber so out the window goes the argument for not reusing them.
I have reused mine, sometimes more than a few times.

I understood the whole "stretch" side of things, but i was under the impression that if it was torqued to the right setting, there wouldnt be any issues, cause its not be tightened past its limit. I think i will just reuse them, and just use loctite aswell. Cheers for the reply
