    Default Advice ?

So I was chatting with a guy about lowering my car (yes another lowering topic but stick with me) I want to only go SL all round and I was going to do the usual King Springs with Monroe GT shocks. I had told the guy that I ONLY care about ride comfort and not performance. He told me to do the Kings springs but use standard shocks and not worry about the shortened monroe gt shocks. His advice was that they would have a little more give in them and with my 19" wheels I wouldn't get hard knocks from potholes and such things.

Is his thinking correct or am I better off going with the Monroe GT shocks for comfort ?

I dont know if he's thinking is correct cause im not an expert but to me you want a shock absorber that matches the springs. Otherwise the shock is just going to be playing catch up with the springs which would give you a nice bouncy ride.

i've got SL all round with KYB shortened shocks and 19's with 245/35 tyres and the ride is quite good. Bit bumpier than stock but it handles much better. Apparently the ride in the back seat isnt as good but hey im never in there so i dont really care lol

Then why on earth are you lowering your car in the first place?

It's meant to be higher to compensate for when the fuel tank is full, when you have people in the back, a trailer on, a boot full of stuff etc. If I was you I'd investigate a FE2 setup. That way it'll still be comfy, as any king springs will be firmer because they are heavy duty (have a higher spring rate).

I fitted the Kings equivalent of the original FE2 springs to my live axle V6 VS. The Kings Part numbers are (KHFL-47SL+ for fronts) and (KHRL-20HD+ for rears). I also had to fit monroe GT Sports shortened rear shocks, because with the normal length shocks, the rear springs would fall out whenever the car was jacked up at the rear. These springs and shocks have made the car excellent to drive.
