The a/c work only works on Level 5 Full Blower , it does not work on the control fan setting ie level 1,2,3 or 4 ? the Bride is nagging me to fix it ! Can any let me know if they have had this problem & how to fix it ?
Thanks
Its a Blown Fan Resistor, not an expensive fix im sure theres a guide on here somewhere
For a VY Berlina? The climate control units don't use a resistor, instead there is a TO-3 transistor attached to a large heatsink. What happens is there is a solder joint on the transistor unit that becomes dry and one of the metal links/wire connecting the transistor to the plug pops off. You just have to resolder that link and it works again.
From memory (not sure if this is 100% correct but you get the idea):
Remove the glovebox; push two rubber tabs in either side, glovebox should now open further, then just unclip the entire glovebox at the hinges.
Remove the trim under the dash that has the footwell light in it
Remove the footwell A/C duct
you should be able to see the transistor/heatsink up toward the center console now. Iirc there is a metal support that is in the way. I just undid the screw on one end and that gave me enough clearance to get the transistor out.
Thanks Mate for the advice , done everything as you said above , i removed the unit & pull it apart & inspect everything look well soldered , Guess i need a replacement unit . thanks for your help again , Cheers
