hi
vy V8 had a new radiator installed plus thermostat and housing but the coolant is green coloured not the pinkish it had from the factory
should I get it changed?????
thanks
LS1's are meant to have red coolent because they are an alloy engine
I didn't think that the green coolant was corrosive to alloy?
But I don't own an LS1 so, yeah....
Yea change it to the red stuff .

Take it back and tell them to change it unless they will be up for a new engine
Thanks for you info
taking car back to Cool-it to have coolant changed
I've been tolled that the colour is only a dye and you can buy coolant for alloy motors in green?
The red and green signify 2 different types of coolant. Have a look at the Nulon web site they give the details there. I understood the green stuff was OK to use in a V8 as long as the red stuff was totally flushed out as they do not mix. you could find out the brand they used and give the manufacturer a call but no they are not the same except for the colour dye.
Handbook for vy says to use red coolent for the LS1
The green coolant is perfectly fine, just make sure you get it changed every 2 years because it doesn't have as long a life span as the red stuff (5 years). That said, the factory red coolant is usually well toast at 5 years anyway...
i been told there is a specific orange colour coolant for the gen 3 as there alloy blocks GM specifically made this coolant for them... in saying that i got green in mine so im gonna do a radiator flush and change to the orange coolant
If it's Nulon Long Life or an equivalent then it's fine in your engine, it suits all cars. Long Life Concentrated Coolant- Nulon Australia

The colour is just a DYE. Has sweet F all to do with the active ingredients. Manufacturers may use it to differentiate between coolants from there own range, but then if you change brands, the colour may well be different.
