Default stock or aftermarket cruise control

hi, am going to get a cruise control fitted to exec.

have been told $699 fitted from pmr. for an ap500 and cm30 stalk.
    and from an auto elec
he can get from holden 498 think he said the factory kit, and said that he hasn't fitted one into a vy before so was guessing about 4 hours to do the job making it $820. but could be less if he does it quicker.. he'll prob turn around and say it took him the full 4 hours even it if it didn't..

would the holden cruise be alot better then the aftermarket commander one. and does anyone know how long it should actually take to install the one from holden?

    thanks

seems as thought no one has an opinion on stock or aftermarket cruise controls.

how about has anyone fitted a stock cruise control onto an exec? how long it took? contemplating even doing it myself

i wouldnt think it would be too hard to fit... never done it myself but the only thing would be the wiring and as long as you can get a diagram it shouldnt be too hard

I would just go for holden why not second hand ? From a wreck you will save big $$$ and if your not keen on fitting it just get a mechanic or eletriction to do it.

went into holden today.. and yes they can get a kit from brissie at $497, he spoke to one of the guys in the workshop who told him it's a big job, about 6hours.. problem apparently is getting to and cutting a hole in the firewall for the cabling, which takes ages, cutting the whole in the right place?

so getting them to do it would be over a grand.. way to much.

nothing at a wreckers localy. so rang several in brissie, only found 1 who said he had, and would be $220, but won't post.

What the? There would be hardly any cutting involved? Its only 6-10 wires to the Cruise control module? I do believe they all came stock with the wiring? but only optioned if you wanted it or not.. Have a look in your engine bay to see if you have the connection there.. Should be on the drivers side.. If you have that.. Its almost plug and play..Although you'll need the Module and Stalk. and should be right.
$699???? Sounds like holdens. Probably $100 parts.. and $599 labor.

yea i've had a look around in the engine bay, can't find any loose plugs or cabling of any kind not connected to anything

would like to be able to get the factory kit installed. but if it's $600 labour thats just ridiculus

Labour at Holdens is ridiculous IMO.
They suggested replacing my dads VU utes Power steering rack for $530 labour.. $230 for parts.
I had mine replaced by my girlfriends uncles for $150.. and it was the best Powersteering rack the wrecker could get his hands on..
and had holdens clean my throttle body.. $240.

Save your self some cash, do it yourself or get even a wreckers to do it (some should do it)
could be simple plug and play.. or a loom replacement..
