hey guys.. so im having aslight problem and this will be extremely hard to explain.. but here i go
so.. when i accelerate and the revs go above 2000 the rear of the car like.. shudders it kinda feels like the wheels spin and lose traction but its not constant its like the wheels are chirping... there seems to be no power going to wheels then all of a sudden the shuddering will stop and the car will pick up really quick like it should normally.. at first i thought it was the wheels spinning and losing traction but.. now i think it might be something to do with the transmition.. i have no idea whats going on and i hope its not expensive lol but yeah if anyone has any idea or has been thru this before..
please help me :'(

Had the same kind of problem in my VZ, I thought it may have been the traction control playing up. Turns out it was a block cat-converter.
how would that effect the engine tho.. by preventing the exhaust from passing efficently nd sht?

Check the big black rubber between the tail shaft and diff. The let go and make the whole car shudder u til it balances out at a higher rpm and feels normal again

I have heard that the BA/BF Falcons have a similar problem and its caused by exactly what aaronevolution said, blocked cat converter. It can't be unblocked, it needs to be replaced.

To me it sounds like traction control jumping in and not turning off but I'm not too sure.
i dont have traction control.. well.. i dont have the button like inside the car and on wet days i get sideways so easy.. i went to car was the other day then went to maccas.. pulled outa drivethur onto like a main road and ended up facing the direction i had come from.. whoopsies
recon ima just head down to holden dealer nd see whats up.. hopefully its not too much cash :/

Go to an exhaust shop, not Holden. They will check and see if the cat is blown for free, and shouldn't cost anymore than $300 to get a new one fitted if it is the problem.
sounds to be like the time i had a horrible mis-fire come up real sudden... between 2000 and 3000 the engine was a dog and then got better although over the course of the drive home it got a lot worse
new leads and plugs fixed it though
With our models it's built in with the ABS.
Go into your engine bay, pull out the ABS fuse for one drive and tell me if it still does it.
Try the easy things first.. Mind you when i pulled my abs fuse out i put my foot down and it just spun.. with it in it didn't even chirp lol.
Obviously don't keep it out (i mean you can if you want but everytime you start up it'll say ABS fault lol)
Give it a try and see.
Edit: If it's not that I'd say it's a block cat convertor.
Yeah ill give it a go.. come to think of it.. a while back the abs fault light came one 2 - 3 times.. just randomly.. then the next day it would be back to normal.. so mabi it is to do with that :/ ill make sure i take it slow.. not really in the mood for skids atm lol im low on funds![]()
a quick update, mabi this brings more things into the picture.. the like pulsing / shuddering gets 1 million times worse when traveling uphill
ill look into exhaust places see if i can get a place that will check for free i think a kid i work with dad owns a exhaust shop..
cheers for the ongoing help guyskeep me posted if anyone has another thought

im gonna stick with my theory of a misfire... easier to change the plugs and leads than get the cat looked at so thats what i would be doing
do they change plugs and leads every service?

not as far as im aware... if it was written on the receipt then yes otherwise nodo they change plugs and leads every service?
just go to bursons or repco and ask them for a set of spark plugs and leads for a vy commodore v6... they are pretty easy to change
Alright cheers for the info![]()

You can take out the cat and soak it in a bucket or something overnight in something to try and clean it out.. That is the cheapest way.. Problem is it get's so hot that it molds onto the exhaust... I think best bet is go to exhaust shop and get them to have a look at it.. they should be able to put a hole before and after the cat and test the pressue in and out.
Never go to holden dealer first go! :P
alright.. sounds good mate.. i rang up holdens today coz i had some major work done about 2 weeks ago to the intake manifold as im sure some u of you guys will know but anyway.. the guy at holdens thinks is a misfire so booked it in too have a look at and if its misfiring due to something they ####ed up.. im not paying -.-

yeah i was having a look at your build thread and i reckon you go ripped off to put it mildly but then hey you get that from dealers
my advice is that if your not confident doing the mechanical work find a good mechanic which isnt easy but you may have to try a few before you find one or learn how to do it yourself... just try and familiarize yourself with the engine as much as you can even if you may not do any work on it... i picked up a lot of knowledge just be reading threads on here where it wasnt something i knew or was interested in but looked anyway just to try and learn something
ding ding ding
we have a winner
turned out to be a misfire, took it down to holdens they didnt push the plugs on far enough after the big job and they had come off.. so 30 mins later car was back on the road free of charge and 15 apologies lol
