Just want to know if 330/315mm rotors will fit onto my standard calipers on my VY SS or are the calipers different??
Cheers
You will need spacers to make the calipers fit over the rotors.
VT V6 fitted with DMS gold 40mm coilovers, Whiteline adjustable swaybars & strut brace, 330mm AP racing brakes, Rebuilt 3.45:1 LSD and a Powerdyne supercharger
Check it out: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...-v6-racer.html
the fronts are a larger Caliper(C5 Corvette, also used on Holden By design and VZ SSZ's etc but with a 320x32mm rotor) and bracket is completely different(front rotors are also thicker, 32mm thick compared to the normal 28mm)
not to sure on the rears, they use the same calipers and pads, but brackets Might be offset a little(rotors are also 18mm thick, regular ones are only 16mm)
Well my car is a holden by design, but how do know if my calipers are different to standard?
If it has the standard size rotors, the calipers are standard.
front calipers would be red with a Holden emblem if there Holden by design, rears are red but dont have a logo
a Holden by design could be factory fitted aany of the follwing options:
LPG, sill plates, sunroof, brakes, satnav, bodykit, leather steering wheel/handbrake etc all would be fitted with the a HBD build Plate in the engine bay
there was other option's too thats just some i can think of
Yeah I just got standard calipers, only thing I got was a sunroof and leather seats.
Harrop do a kit that uses 343mm rotors front and back using the std calipers but is expensive when compared to a second hand HSV 330/315 setup.

Thanks for that mate, I'll go from there. Cheers
Why the hell would you want 330mm discs with the standard 2 pot calipers? I dare say performance would not be measurably better than the standard 297mm discs. Most of the increased performance comes from putting more pad to disc and clamping it harder. If you aren't upgrading the pads/calipers you aren't really upgrading at all.
Get some 4 or 6 pots... I've seen entire brand new HSV 330mm + 315mm disc + calipers sets go for ~$2k

I'm not really after braking performance or any shit like that, I don't do any track work to begin with. It's only for looks I like to see big rotors through wheels. That's just me
It'll look weird anyway because the curve of the caliper casting won't match the radius of disc.
