You will need to drill holes for it and I think you need to remove both struts and put the bolts from underneath and tighten from the top.

Glad I have a series 2. But I thought the series 1 had those studs, too?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

You can also just drop the struts down about 20mm by undoing the top mount nut but not all the way , drill your holes & you can JUST get your fingers in between the top of the strut & the strut cavity to feed your bolts thru & get a spanner on to tighten them up. This saves having to undo the struts totally , then you need a wheel alignment too if you totally remove them.

I had a 2003 SV8 that had studs for a strut brace so the first install was easy.
The current 2003 HSV GTO doesn't have any studs so I drilled the holes very carefully and used 8mm rivnuts.
You can get raised or countersunk rivnuts. Only problem is the rivnut tool is a bit expensive. About $250 here in NZ.
