Ok people I've gone and cracked my radiator on Friday, question is should I get a genuine Holden one? Or get a knock off one or look for a performance one??
Cheers for any help
Just get an aftermarket radiator, the genuine ones cost more and last the same time anyway.

Get yourself a full alloy 52mm radiator off eBay, I paid $220 for mine from there and I reckon they perform better than the standard. But yeh aftermarket over genuine.
Ok cool, so aftermarkets the way to go, I know that the vz have a complete different set up under the hood but can the alloytecs radiator be used?
Main reason I ask it that I need to get it don't Monday and can't really wait for eBay
Im not talking about an alloytec radiator. I was referring to a full alloy radiator. Alot of spare parts stock them but may be a bit more than eBay.
Ring around some radiator shops, I got mine for 130 from a place in Cardiff. Don't go genuine. They are all made in china anyway.
There are some differences in price i have found. someone replaced the readiator in my VY, plastic was very thin and the side tank let go. i got a new one from repco ($275) and the quality was a massive improvement over the old one, very very thick plastic and very sturdy compared to the old one. I could have got a cheaper one but only place local that had stock on a sunday and needed the car monday lol
I reckon $275 is a bit overboard for a plastic one.
You guys recommending aftermarket should read this.
Hope it comes out big enough to read.

I've used aftermarket radiators alot on my commodores and never experienced any problems, only recent I got off eBay was a alloy one which has been running in daily ss for 6 months now and I give my box a hard time with no problems. Of course alot of commodore drivers run external trans coolers anyway, so I don't really see the downside to it. But I guess everybody has their own opinion.
Yep go the aftermarket.
Last week at work, a guy brought in his VR Acclaim because it had a water leak, I checked it out and found one of the tanks on the radiator had split, so my boss called up the owner and the owner said he wanted us to get a new radiator genuine from Holden (fair enough), once the radiator got to work, I fitted it, filled it with water and pressure tested it, straight away one of the radiator tanks started leaking, it wasn't sealing properly.
Message is, doesn't matter if you get genuine or aftermarket, if theres going to be something wrong with it, then theres going to be something wrong with it, just the luck of the draw really.

Lol at buying genuine radiators. I think you'd be dissapointed to find where they are made.
A lot of bagging of genuine radiators on here, especially seeing as a lot of people got a good 5 years or more of the factory one. Not bad for a relatively cheap part.
My factory one last 7 years.
But I still got a NATRAD replacement though.

I'm not bagging them, I'm just stating aftermarket ones arnt inferior so why pay more money than you need to.
I have not bought a radiator for many years but the last one I bought I was surprised to find the genuine unit from Holden was about the same price as the after market ones, it was before the plastic tank units though. So I bought it from Holden, might pay to check out a few prices, it may be different now though.
Holden quoted $370 for me, after markets range from $100-$180.
hay i ended up getting a referb one for 180, it was that or an aftermarket one (china one) for 170, i figured it would of been my best choice. and also for a trade price one from holden was going to be around 300 mark but had to wait a week or some crap.
