    Default back firing

Well as the title states my ss is back firing.. i have noticed it happening around 1500 revs in 4th gear but its not consistent as it will do it once and a while so im asking if anyone else has had this problem and can shed some light as how to fix it..

    I have done the following:

    changed leads
changed spark plugs ( bought 4 electrode bosch platnium plugs)
im getting a fuel pressure and flow test done on friday and getting the fuel filter checked/ replaced if required
i have been told that my o2 sensors are fine

    any other things to check

im going to a second mechanic today to get another diagnostics test to see wat error codes come up, but all i can say is it is starting to annoy the f*%k out of me

what's the spark plug gap of the new plugs?

are you running on LPG or petrol?

might also be worn ignition module(s)... :\

Back firing is over fuelling, which usually means a miss. The coils can die, is it missing at idle or just when cruising?

Check the plugs again, it isn't uncommon to crack one when putting them in. The old ones could have been failing anyway when you changed them.

They need so little tightening, maybe it was 22mm last time I did plugs? Use a torque wrench to ensure you don't over tighten.

    No, they are 5/8".

All it takes is the plug socket to be on a bit of an angle and when you do the final tighten, it can crack the ceramic.

Other than that, you may have a faulty plug.

Could be unrelated, may be a faulty wheel sensor. But if the car is missing and back firing, it could be causing it.

No. But since the engine light has come on, it should have set a code, so that may tell you what that problem is.
