    Default Urgent help please!!

Put new SL shocks an springs in my car yesterday then today I was looking at the car and on the drivers side the wheel is very close to the wheel arch like I'll need to roll the guards yet on the passenger side there's heaps of room between the side of the wheel an the arch almost like the wheels are offset to the car !

Anyone had this happen or able to tell me what could be the cause ?

Mine is out like this too, I believe a simple wheel alignment will fix it.

Just don't take corners too quickly/go over bumps too quickly so that the wheel doesn't move into the guard and you're fine.

The only adjustment a wheel alignment will do on the rear is toe which wont change the gap, only the angle the front of the tyre points to.

With IRS the wheels should be the same distance from the guards as the diff is mounted to the body of the car. In the older cars with live axle the diff could be off centre which would cause this problem.

Not sure why yours would be like this. Have you made sure the shaft hasnt popped out of the diff?

I'm fairly certain I didn't do anything crazy in the back end when taking the springs out.

I took the shocks out an supported the hub with a jack an hit the old springs with the grinder. The new ones popped straight in bolted the shocks in an lowered the car.

There's a mechanic around the corner from work might them to have a quick look

This is a common thing - the suspension cradle in the back is a bit out of alignment that's all. A mate of mine on ProUtes had the same problem with his, and mine had the same problem (by about 10mm)

I didn't bother with mine, I'm pretty sure it's a matter of loosening the entire rear suspension assembly and re-setting it to the center.
