Hey guys I'm new on here and just have a quick question. I just bought a VY acclaim with an SS bodykit on it, I was wondering if there was any difference between the SS and the S bodykits? The reason being that the car didn't come with any badges, and it looks bland on the rear end. I was going to chuck an S badge on there, as to not have any hassels with the cops about it being a V8 or anything like that. I just don't want to look like a flog if there is some major differences! If anybody could help me out that would be great. Cheers
front end they are the same back end i think have different boot spoilers could be wrong but
The rear bar, front bar and side skirts are exactly the same on the S and SS variants. The VY SS had fog lights fitted in the front bar as standard but not the VY S which had a removable charcoal coloured plastic fitting covering the fog light area.
The spoiler is the only different item. The SS has a larger/wider boot spoiler than the S. Pull up some photos and you will see the difference.
Thanks for the help so far, here's a few photos of the car in question.
James
From your photos, the car is a half done modification.
The front bar is VY SS / VY S and looks a genuine GMH bar.
The boot spoiler you have is either a VY S spoiler or Holden By Design fitting (labelled by HBD as a "type 2 sportswing") (which pretty much look identical). (The SS spoiler is a wider version).
The rear bar is standard VY Acclaim. The SS/S rear bar has not been fitted to the car.
There are no SS / S side skirts fitted to the car. What you have are standard VY Acclaim panels down each side.
If you wished to complete the body kit modification you would need to replace the rear bar with the VY SS/S bar and fit the VY SS/S side skirts (in place of the current fittings).
To further enhance the appearance you would need to change the wheels. Those fitted (as in the photos) are standard Acclaim wheels fitted to the series one VY Acclaim.
Cheers.
right, so the only mods are the rear spoiler and the front bar.. I've got a bit of money to spend on this car getting it fixed up with the right bodykits! eventually i'll look to completely transfer it to an S bodykit. thanks for your help Sean! cheers
