VY SV8 oil change - recommendation

Hey guys,

I have a '03 VY SV8 that's just done 62,000km. I'm looking to drop the oil around 65,000km so I know it will be 10k until the 75,000km service.

I live in Townsville, so it's generally hot up here and been reading up on which oil to use and I'm still undecided on the Mobil 1 5W-30, Mobil 1 5W-50 or the Castrol Edge 10W-60 as the manual says to use 10-30w. Are these to oils much the same, or would one be more better suited to the climate here? From what I've been reading, the LS1 engines like either of these two oils, so does it just come down to personal opinion / price?

I think I'm leaning more towards the Castrol Edge 10W-60 due to the climate here.

Sorry if it's been covered before, but I can't really find a clear-cut answer to which would be the "better" oil for the engine.

I'd use the Castrol edge sport 10w/60. I always used it in my gen III and never looked back.

Otherwise a lot of fancy people use a brand called royal purple.

I've been leaning towards the Castrol Edge 10W-60. I've read about the Royal Purple too but not sure if people use it just to say they use it, if you know what I mean? ;-)

Always used 10/30, currently on 170,000kms and still quiet on cold start and doesnt burn oil.
