    Default How to change Extractors?

I just got done by coppers for pacemaker extractors, I need to change them to normal extractors.

How hard is it and how do I do it?

Also how much would I get for Vy pacemaker extractors if i were to sell them?

V6? I got mine out of my VX piss easy with some chassis stands. Took them up out of the engine bay, wasn't hard at all.

Depends on how much you value your life.

You could jack the car up with the factory jack, put bricks under the tyres, and hopefully once you take the car of the jack, you have enough of a gap that you can undo the bolts holing the extractors to the exhaust, from there you can do the rest from the engine bay.

Keep in mind that if anything goes wrong, you could end up dead or seriously injured.

Or you could go to Supercheap Auto and buy a $40 set of chassis stands and do it properly.

On a side note, how the hell did you get done for extractors? Are you on you L's or P's?

Edit: Its been a long time since I've used the factory scissor jack, so I can't exactly remember how much ground clearance you get.

Fair enough. Just keep in mind that insurance companies also consider it a performance part so if you had been in an accident they could rightfully (and would) refuse payout. So cops likely did you a favor here.

Yeah but if you drive it than you have to obey by the P-plate laws, which means they can still deny a payout on the grounds that you should not of been driving it in the first place.

    Anyway enough of that.

You can buy Pacemaker extractors for Ecotecs for about $500-$600 new, so I would assume about $300-$400 second-hand assuming they are in good nick.

As for the exhaust, depends, but I'd probably guess you wouldn't get much. Maybe $50-$100 if its just a quick knock-up job by your local exhaust joint. Maybe more if its a good brand.

It all comes down to how much are willing to pay and how long you are willing to wait.

Not to burst your bubble, but my car is insured for Cam alteration, extractors, lowered, exhaust, cold air intake, manual conversion, etc...

As the assessor said to me when i got my car checked when some guy backed into me. I asked about a guys car who had pretty much pitch black headlights - "If it's on your policy we have to cover you"

I thought they would say no but they still insure me O.o.

OT: How did they only get you for the extractors, I rarely hear that happening.

Insurance companies don't care what you have done as long as it's properly modified. P plate laws mean nothing to them because they usually charge more for mods.

Pulled me over, straight away asked me to pop the bonnet, saw them straight away and said that a performance part and lost 3 points and about $300 fine.

Personally I'd be asking the question. I'm pretty sure that extractors don't qualify as a "performance part" for P platers.
