Does anyone know FOR SURE if the VY key battery is a CR2032? Or Lithium 2025 or 2032? Just that I want to buy the battery before I split the key head again.
Also, is a CR2032 Lithium?
Have read the VT key fix thread, and am guessing VY would have the same battery?

correct, same battery, however if you accidentally kill the remote (witch will happen eventually) i hope you have spare one

I would just take it to a lock smith or watch repairs and get them to fix it it would be about $10 cheers.

A locksmith or Mister Minit man will tell you they are a non serviceable item an should be replaced, witch is what i advise people to do.
They are not ment to be pulled apart an messed with. By doing so you risk killing the key an if you don't have a spare then its a trip to Holden with proof of owner ship an vin number an they will give you the key codes you need. Then you need to go to a locksmith or Minit shop an they will program the key head for you an give you instructions on how to introduce the key after its been bench programmed.
Getting a new key head will cost you at most $100, that's programmed ready to go.

Thanks for the confirmation on battery type.
Yes I have a SPARE key. I have had them apart before, just not to change battery. Cheers.

You need the battery with the welded on solder tabs and it's part number just has an extra or different pre fix or suffix I can't remember off hand and you can get them from Jay Car Electronics for a few dollars. Use a desoldering tool to remove the old battery and put the new one in. If you bust the case they are on e-bay with new buttons for $10
Job done, took a bit to solder the terminals on without cooking the new battery, though it did get quite warm. Connections aren't the best, but it's only my spare key, so if it lets go, I'll get a battery with the terminals on it or use wire glue next time.
