Hey mate, my old lady had the same problem in her vy exec a few years back. While it's not a solution, she just used the trip meter to see how far she'd gone and would always fill up again at around 400-450 kms. Mentioned it to holden at the next service and they fixed it up no problems. (mind you this was under warranty so who knows what they'll charge these days)

Think more simple.. Remove the plug to the fuel tank.. Give both a clean (if needed) bit of the trusty WD40 and stick it back together
    Cheers,

On friday morn my mate and I jump in the car to go for a drive, distance till empty said "320 km to go", 300 meters down the road we ran out of fuel.
I pulled my fuel tank out yesterday ( didn't disconnect fuel lines ) and sprayed top of fuel pump/sender with WD40 and it didn't do anything.
I couldn't get the fuel pump undone from the tank, it took 10 mins to unbolt and lower fuel tank and 45mins to put it back. I get very frustrated when
working on cars. does anyone think it sounds like the fuel sender that is the problem?

My fuel gauge and distance till empty just started working properly 2day!
I haven't touched a thing ( sender or tank ). The float must of come unstuck or a lose fuel sender wire?
