I've looked through countless threads on this forum for this issue and have not come across any solutions.
Both of my front windows squeak/screech when going up and down at the very top of their wind sequence. They are electric windows.
This is NOT the rattling issue others have experienced whilst the car is in motion.
I don't know whether the squeaking is coming from the top of the window against the door mould; or at the bottom of the window against the exterior window seal; or somewhere else?!
I do know it is not from the interior window seal because I still get the issue when the door trim is off.
PLEASE HELP! This is driving me insane!!!
This is the same issue as listed in Squeaky electric window, but I don't want to have to replace my windows to fix it!!! Surely there is an easier (and cheaper) way to fix this issue by lubricating something?
Also, if it helps, I have a 2003 VY Berlina.
Windows are electric.
Windows are tinted.
Genuine Holden rain guard is fitted on both windows, too.
Yeah, I might try that. I just don't want it to ruin my window tinting though. Do you think it will?
The other problem is, where do I spray the silicone spray? I don't know where the squeaking is coming from—even after putting my ear to all areas of the window whilst someone else played with the button to make it go up and down … FML!
I had the same problem with my VY ute. I rubbed some candle wax around the edge of the window glass & hey presto no squeek. Don't ask me where the squeek is coming from though.
Just wind the window down a bite & rub the candle along the edge of the glass & if you can rub some on the black strip that runs up the side of the window. Use a white candle
when i first got my vy it did the samething and i tried everything to stop it, turned out when you remove the black strip that runs along the bottom of the window on the outside and look down into the door, there is a black rubber piece that must stop the window from rattling and only touchs the metal in the door when the windows at the top, anyway this is what was making the noise in mine, put some grease on it and i havnt heard it since
Mine has done it since I put on the weather shield . Mine only makes the noise coz of the clip that hold the weather shield in place. It making the rubber go all tight on the glass
^ Same here with the weather strip clip.
The felt wears away, exposing the rubber on the seal, causing it to squeek. I used some graphite powder, rubbed sparingly into the rubber and remaining felt.
Come to think of it, I aint heard that squeek for ages now, since doing as I said above.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
