I own a 2003 Vy II One tonner. I currently have a MSD Ignition system and a Growler cold air induction kit. I'm basiclly chassing a few questions.
I don't own an exhaust system for my ute, but my current one currently backfires a tinny bit when I just rev it up to 4000rpm. I'm guessing this is because I have too much air and a very high amount of spark within the engine. Would this be stopped if I had a propper exhaust system?
Also I'm intending to put on a 70mm throttlebody would this help my power gain?
Along with larger rockers, a Holden Vy II V6 SS tuning.
And does anyone know if an ecotech can get a nice lumpy cam?
And I'm planning to run it at roughly 230kw's+ when I'm done with it without a turbo or supercharger. would the current engine with stand the power output?
Cheers.
I dont think an exhaust would fix the backfire unless its a problem with the exhaust that is causing it
70mm throttlebody might help a tiny bit with power but i would be looking at other mods before that. What exactly do you mean by SS tuning???
You can get a lumpy cam for a v6 but if you get a cam dont bother with rockers
If your looking for 230 rwkws then i wish you luck... your going to need it
I hope he means fwkw. Even then, it will be a costly job. 230fwkw will require headwork, pistons as well as cam and so on... etc on n/a engine.
I think it might just be the extractors. Its the original set and they seem rusted to death. I checked my radiator and some of hte fulid in it has this weird metal rusty colour would a flush and clean fix this issue.
And the SS V6 tuning is a standard tuning Holden made for all V6's to have a large power increase. I have a program on my laptop which is like a master ECU and can allow me to reprogram an Holden Commodore and some other models from 1995 to present. For example I own a 205,000km Holden One tonner V6 Ecotec. I can change that into a 75,000km V6 Ecotec Supercharged tune with the injectors adding as much fuel as possible. Its kinda hard to use and it does take time but i've got 2 ECUS and I'm slowing building a V6 superchip. I think bumping the original kw's from 152 to 230 isn't that hard of an issue. I'm considering the Cam, rockers, the larger throttle body a Gonzo exhaust and mabye boring out the pistons and ect. Mainly Gonzo would provide the exhaust system that would add the most power. If all else fails, I'll supercharge it.
Could you elaborate a little further please. A v6 SS tuning from holden? what's the name of this master ecu programme thingo?
To my knowledge changing an odometer is highly illeagal? And why would you use the supercharger tune and injectors for a n/a motor? For example I own a 205,000km Holden One tonner V6 Ecotec. I can change that into a 75,000km V6 Ecotec Supercharged tune with the injectors adding as much fuel as possible.

I mainly used the V6 Supercharged tune as an example. Its a master ECU program that only two other people in Australia own. And I wouldn't actually wind back the O/D, my commodore is my pride and passion and I've loved every kilometer I've done in it to date. Basicly this tuning program can do anything and everything to a commodore from 1995 to current. I'm still hazy with using it but my uncle has it down packed. And I also ment the tune would mean I can make the injectors add my fuel. Equal or more then a supercharged setting. I'm hoping to run a 16second quarter friday week. I pull a 17.1 at the moment but I'd like it to be within the 16 second category. And by the end of the year a 14 would be nice.
Fair enough
So its like Tuner pro and EFIlive? Whats the name of it? And why would only 2 people have it? Is it like Tech 2 software or something? I would like a copy if you can. I'm guessing it just uses a standard ALDL/usb cable like tuner pro and efilive? Its a master ECU program that only two other people in Australia own
Its like a scan pro tool most mechanics have but I can access all parameters inside of the ecu. It's recomended that you copy the current tune you have now into a spare ecu and then you can start tweaking as the room for error is too big. And it uses a Laptop to car cable. For Vy's its that little terminal under the steering wheel or inside the fuse box.
