How old is the belt? Is it the belt squeaking, or idler pulleys?

Check that all the pulleys are not mis-alligned then take off the belt and spin all the pulley's alternator and waterpump to see if the bearings sound OK.

    1. Its always seems to be the supercharger belt that is intermittently noisy. The other belt has always been OK on my car.

    2. I found the only solution was to renew the belt because in my view it is the belt material that is the issue and it was worse with a cold belt in damp, cool conditions.

    3. I put a 3rd new S/C belt on my engine well over 18 months ago and have had absolutely no belt noise since. I can only assume the last belt I purchased from Dealer Parts was possibly a different construction from the earlier belts because I expected after 6000 kms or so that it would be noisy again. But no. I have probably done about 15000 km with the new belt and no noise. The S/C belts are inexpensive to buy so I don't care about the minor cost to put a new one on which takes a few minutes to change over. However it looks like the current belt is a good one.

    4. I also tried CRC Belt Grip on a previous belt when it developed noise but I found this product virtually useless as it only suppressed or masked the belt noise temporarily. The new belt solved the belt noise issue.

    Hope this helps. Cheers.

Hubby bought me a new sc belt yesterday (we share this username, he's calais and im statesman..). He hasn't got around to putting it on yet, so I will give the talcum powder a go today... Its bloody embarrassing driving it the way it is!!!

    Thankyou all for your suggestions!
