Hey fellas, I've got a VY Executive and just bought a set of VE SV6 wheels from my mate who's a wrecker for $500 with 245/45/18 tyres in great nick. I've bought a set of nuts from Holmart that have a larger flange to suit the studs on the VY, which will hold the wheel properly, and the wheels are now getting machined down, for $20 a wheel. What I'd like to know is how much will the speedo be affected by putting on these wheels? I'm coming from the stock 15s that have been on it forever.
Thanks for your help guys.

VT-VZ 18's only run 40 series tyres and the 45's that come on VE 18's may not clear your spring mounts on the front struts as the overall tyre diameter is around 20-25mm taller (radius about 10-13mm).

Dam, I thought it would be good, as I see 19s, even 20s on VY/VZ commodores. The tyres are virtually new, and didn't want to just remove them and buy new ones, as the only reason I bought them was for the good price.

It's not wheel size that's an issue, 20s are fine with the correct width/profile to suit your car. 15s will rub with the wrong tyre.
Even if you got no rubber, you got the wheels for a good price. Find a second hand tyre dealer that will swap the tyres for you at little or no cost. Then you'll have no trouble with speedo, clearance or roadworthy.
"You want fast, reliable and cheap ? You'll find a Commodore out there that can provide any two out of those three!"
well im running 245/35/19's and the clearance is about 4mm.... so i dont think 245/45/18s is gonna fit
Edit: misread post
