VY V6 Auto trouble

I have a Vy SV6 auto and the gears seem to have a little bit of hesitation when changing down. When I am cruising then take my foot off then accelerate it
falters slightly then kind of jerks into gear. The revs stay up so I don't think it's power problem but the funny thing is that it goes through phases of doing this, ie 2 months good, 2 not. I had topped up the coolant and after this the gear changes went smooth. The trans oil has been flushed recently. Anyone have any ideas. Does coolant effect the trans like that? Any pointers appreciated.

There is a transmission fluid cooler mounted in the radiator to stop the fluid getting too hot... if this is damaged or blocked in someway it could be overheating the fluid

Or having low coolant fluid will do it too i guess
