Hey guys it's my first post here so hopefully I explain my problem well enough
Anyway ive had this clunking sound coming from the rear of my VY series 2 SS most gear changes. It's a 6sp man. I'm worried the diff is on its way out? It's definitely from the rear of the car and not the transmission. It only ever happens as I get it into gear.
It you suddenly boot it without changing gear does it knock too?
Yeah mate it does sometimes, and doesn't seem to be as loud
could be the c.v's mine are a bit worn and are clunking
My senator has the clunking noise, made worse with the fitting of urethane cradle bushes in the rear.
My transmission guy said it was normal in factory drive trains, some worse than others.
Unfortunately for us Holden consumers these days parts are just put togther on the assembly line as delivered not like the old days where they would match up parts with slight differering manufacturing specs, so sometimes you get tight fitting parts and othertimes loose fitting.
As always pays to get it checked, maybe take to Pedders for a 28point safety check but don't let them talk you into anything with out talking to your own mechanic about what ever they find.
