    Default Diff Leak.

Hi all I have a 04 Vy S Ute with factory LSD and it seems to be leaking abit around the rear diff housing. Just thought I'd see if anone knows if this is an easy job to fix, and if anyone has taken the housing off before and what you had to do etc. Also what LSD diff oil whould be the best for it.
    Cheers.

I have the same LSD in my car but no leaks so no comment on the leak issue.

When replacing the diff oil I checked with both Castrol and Penrite and they each recommended only the following fully synthetic products for these diffs:

    1. Castrol: SAF- XA 80w 140 fully synthetic

    2. Penrite: SIN Gear Oil 80 which is also 80w 140 grade fully synthetic
SIN GEAR OIL 80 - Penrite Oil

Do NOT use any diff additive with these oils.

Here is a useful post on changing your diff oil.

Cool thanks for that. Yea I'm not sure on the leak It seems to have been sealed with sealant at some stage. And I'm not sure if these are supposed to use a gasket or just sealant. As the sealant could be the main reason for the leak.

    1.Drain all the oil out
    2.Undo the four 13mm bolts
    3.Undo the rear housing
4.Clean off the sealant with a razor blade
    5.Re-seal rear housing
    6.bolt it all back together
    7.Fill diff with oil 1.6L I think
