VE SS
Hi guys I have just bought a VY SS and I am very confused.....on the id tag on the front bumper it has VY8VK69-114-R7F at the top then then engine number is LN3, which i have always believed to be a V6, the engine number is VF023290647, and the susp. is STD but i thought it should be FE2, the body number is 6G1YK52A63L961104 PLEASE HELP!!!! I am VERY confused :bomb:

I dont think you have a VY SS. The VIN L961104 = very early Jan 2003 build. The A = V6

The SS ahould have an F as the engine code didgit in the VIN.

The engine number VF023#### slots into production around March 2003.

sounds like somethings a miss, and your original thoughts are correct!

Stolen from here https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/how-to-check-your-vin.113858

VY - VZ - WK - WL

6G1=World Manufacturer Identifier.
6=Oceania.
G=Australia.
1=Holden.

Z=Model series.
Y-VY
Z=VZ.

K=Luxury level.
K=Executive, SV6, SV8 SS
L=Berlina.
X=Calais.

5=Body Style Code.
5=4 door sedan.
8=Wagon.
4= ute

2=Restraint Code.
1=Active seat belts.
2=Active belts with driver and passenger airbags.
3=Active belts with driver airbag.
4=Active belts with driver, passenger and side airbags.

F=Engine code.
B=Alloytec 175 V6.
7=Alloytec 190 V6.
F=GenIII V8.
A = 3.8L ecotec
R = Supercharged Ecotec (L67)

0=Security check code.

5=Model year code.
2=2002
3=2003
4=2004
5=2005.
6=2006

L=Plant build code.
L=Elizabeth.

the last six numbers are your Sequential production number.

So ...

6G1YK52A63L961104

6 = Oceania.

G = Australia.

1 = Holden.

Y = VY

K = Executive, SV6, SV8 or SS

5 = 4 door sedan.

2 = Active belts with driver and passenger airbags.

A = 3.8L ecotec

6 = Check Digit

3 = 2003 MY

L = elizabeth plant

961104 = sequential build number

Ive read a few places that list "A" as the Ecotec and as green saud, F is the V8. I'm 99.9% sure the susp on the compliance plate should also read FE2.
Somethings not right :hmmm:

'09 VE Calais V
Here's another one.......just picked up a '09.5 MY Calais. According to the VIN its a 2010 build, and the engine code is V. This doesn't appear in the code list in the owners' manual. Anyone have any clues?
I traded my '05 V8 Statesman, so I'm still grieving!
