I've never had a problem with mine... Is your aerial extending, and properly connected? Also, do you listen to AM or FM - the geography of your area could affect reception, particularily in the FM Band (Limestone and Sandstone reflects the carrier waves). Has your reception always been shot in the car, or is this a recent occurence? You might allready know this, but heah... there are two FM presets on the Blaupunkt stereos (FM1 and FM2) - you might have changed the preset accidently.
INACTIVE ACCOUNT. No longer monitored.
the electric aerial extends to the max, am is not so bad but fm is pretty bad compared to the vs i just traded which also had an electric aerial
Judging that reception was ok in your area on your previous vehicle it sounds like you might have a fault. There are a few things to check before going to the dealer:
First check if the Audio Distortion Limiter is enabled in the car's customisation menu (press the "mode" button whilst turning the ignition on- page 1-28 in your user handbook). If it is on, try turning it off and see if that makes any difference.
If that doesn't help try cleaning the antenna itself (cloth, water and detergent - don't use solvent). not likely to make any difference but worth a try...
If that fails too there could be something wrong with the antenna or its connections. On my car I tried pulling fuses to stop the antenna extending when the radio was on, but none had any effect other than to stop the radio working altogether (hazard/antenna fuse - no.7- had no effect). The idea being that if there is no difference in reception between antenna up or down, then there is probably something wrong with the antenna circuit or the co-ax cable. You can sorta check this out when you turn the radio on as the reception should start off crappy whilst the antenna is down and get better as it extends. If it doesn't improve then something is probably wrong.
Sorry, but I can't help you much more than that.....
thanks for that ill try cleaning it as its pretty dirty. the reception improves as the aerial extends, will also try audio distortion limiter.
thanks again
Radio reception In some upper level Berlina/ Calias models have an extra antenae in the rear window. My V.R. Calias was so good you could get good reception with the main aerial down

Yeah, good point, the higher luxury models have what is called a "diversity"antenna in the rear window, maybe jams351 hade one in the Berlina? If that's the case, could just be par for the course in the locality with the standard system. All the same, I can still get an ok (fm stereo) reception from transmitters even up to 100 km away but that all depends on their transmission power and any geographical influence I guess. I found that turning the Audio Distortion Limiter off helps a bit though.
i cleaned the aerial and turned off the audio dist. limiter
it did give me a little bit more, probably just enough. the area i live is hills.. hills.. hills everywhere but the berlina worked fine. probably had a rear aerial that i didnt notice only had her a couple a months and you dont wash ur car out here much.. one trip up the driveway and red dust or mud take ur pick ( summer / winter ) u gotta love that with a black car......guess ill give it a wash for christmas..ho...ho...ho...probably not..
oooops if for some unknown unforseen reason my rear window got broken and the insurance company replaced it with the 1 free glass a year deal could i get one of these windows fitted and would the aerial work not being standard or would the required wiring be in place ??? darn subwoofers..thats another rear window...
