Default Blaupunkt 6 stacker Antenna Buttons not working in S Pack

I've just installed a factory 6 stacker with antenna control buttons out of a VY Calais into my VY II S pack to replace the single disc unit.
Unit works perfectly other than that the the Antenna up/down buttons don't seem to do anything.

The antenna raises and lowers as normal with ignition on/off as before but not with buttons on the unit.
Does anyone know if it should work straight out or do I need to do wiring mods or could it be the Antenna itself ?????

    Thanks, Clint

I have just done the same to my vy11 ute with the same thing happening. When I had the calais dash cluster installed and put on tech 2 at the auto electricians he said with tech 2 he could set my aerial height ,so when I have my new HSV cluster installed shortly and put on tech 2 to program Iam hoping he will be able to program it for the aerial control in the unit.It maybe a week or two before I get it done but will let you know if it works.

    Hey guys.

I'm not completely certain, but I have a feeling the Calais auto antenna works differently to the more basic models. Ours are simply one input to the auto antenna - if it has +12 volts on it, the antenna goes up - if it doesn't, the antenna goes down.

I have a feeling that the Calais one works kinda the same, but has either an additional override input, or a separate up and down output from the unit. That causes your "standard" auto antenna to just drive up when the output from the H/U is active (ie. powered on and radio selected) and drive down when it's not (ie. CD selected, or powered down).

(does any of what I'm dribbling about make sense??)

Hey 12Volt - you got an answer for this one???

Hey Phreddy was just thinking on your posting and was wondering what you thought of this scenario. Power to the aerial goes through the BCM as the aerial height in Calais and Berlina has a memory function that returns the height back to the previous setting. An override switch must come into play as you can also manually move up or down with the button on the stereo head unit. This I would have thought would be wired in series before the BCM so that the height could me maintained where set. So I figure 12V+ - stereo switch - BCM. Earth circuit is straight to ground and the operation is control solely by the BCM grounding and openning the + circuit. YOUR THOUGHTS!!!

Phreddy pretty much summed it up. If the 6 stacker was a factory option on cars other then the high spec cars, where the little antenna icon button is it's replaced with a button with FR FF on it, which is CD track cue/review. IMO you have upgraded it greatly and have the 6 stacker in it, is it really worth it to have that simple function?
Seriously, I'm trying to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my arse!!

Heu guys. Sorry to take so long to get back.

Thanks Shang - I thort that might've been the case.

Scott - What you propose is interesting - and I would think you've probably got something there with the BCM being involved. However, without having some kind of circuit reference I wouldn't go switching +12 or Gnd to any of these inputs though - in case one of 'em ISN'T and input at all, and is in fact a low source impedance to either 12V or Gnd. I'd be pretty paranoid of blowing something up, and I wouldn't imagine a replacement BCM - and the programming that would go along with it - would be all that cheap!

You could try with a relatively low value resistor in series though - and by relatively I mean about 820 ohm, maybe 1K. That way, if it's a high impedance input the extra 1K won't make much difference, but if it's a low source impedance then at least the resistor should limit the current so nothing goes up in smoke.

    Catch ya's later!

this has been tried & found that to get it to work you would need to replace the entire wiring harness & BCM with a higher series one, you wont get the antenna to work like the factory without heaps of messing around.
