    Default hardtop ute question

hey guys i have just purchased an 02 vy s pac ute, full ss body kit wit fog lights and vy ss wheels, comes wit factory hardtop and everything is all colour coded, im stoked with this buy i think i did a good deal for $22,000...anyway my question is the ute is more for work to carry tools and make life easier unfortuantly times come when i need to carry a double story ladder so i will be needing to install the sports racks, has anyone seen a ute with sports racks still with the hard top on, i know u can remove the hardtop and get removable sports racks but if i could i prefer to have the sports racks put on and get a panel shop to modify the hard top.... so if any1 has any ideas to that i will much appreciate it

i dont think it can be done.
I have seen an excellent alternative tho
Its like a roller door for your ute if you could imagine it,it is colour coded and looks great i even liked it better than the hardtop.
i have nfi where he got it tho but maybe someone else has seen the same thing.

I did see a set of alloy racks on a VR-VS ute once. They were bolted to the hardcover. The only thing was the front rack was mounted along way back off the cab to allow for it to open. The other cover mentioned by jeffro is from Quig-Tonneau in QLD ph is (07) 5532 0024.
    Hope this helps

Another option to look into is a roof mounted rack on the front and an alloy bar (or similar) to the rear of the lid. The main thing to watch out for is the re-inforcing of the lid to make sure you don't cause undue stress on it and punch holes in it. My lid is aluminium that has been infilled so it is quite heavy, some of those fibreglass ones might not live up to the extra weight.

On another note, I am looking for inspiration to temporarily carry fishing rods. At this stage am looking to a roof rack and tow bar upright similar to your bike carrier racks sorta thing. Anyone seen any similar setups?
