Short Shifter

Hey Guys.

I have a 2004 VY II S pack 5 speed manual sedan. Does anyone know if you can get a short shifter to fit these gear boxes and if so where is the best place to get one from???

I finally have found a short shifter to fit a 5 speed gear box. JHP in Victoria sell one for $310 + about $15 p&h. You can get their details at www.############

They don't advertise this product on their website but if you call them they'll give you all the information you need.

If anyone happens to buy one, can they post a couple of pics before they install it? I am also looking at the conversion, although I was thinking of doing one myself. I posted a thread a few weeks ago.

I had a close look at the shifter and it can be modified to extend the length below the fulcrum and shorten the length above it.

There is a lot of rubber in the system also, including the shifter itself plus the mounting plate in the transmission tunnel. I reckon you could firm up the shift by replacing the square rubber mount with a nylon one (you need to get under the car to see it).

if you don't want it that much shorter, the VY and VU V6 ute's shifters are a bit shorter than their sedan variants - probably a bit cheaper than one of those rip shifters aswell

"BILLET PRODUCTS" sell short shifter for 5 speed getraged boxes and the claim to reduce shift from 1st to 2nd by 50% they retail for $449 but if ur quik there is a guy who buoght a whole heap from billet products and is selling em for $299 + $10 buks freight, i just bought 1 myself
